I have been around long enough to see a lot of tort reform come. Significantly the workers’ compensation reform (which was challenged as being unconstitutional) in 1991, and the medical malpractice reform.
Surely the powers that be can come up with a better excuse for their result-oriented, courthouse-door-slamming reforms than that roofers chase storms along with lawyers. But apparently not.
In this political environment, the only blessing is that Dan Patrick won’t come swipe the pot roast off your stove. Not so that you would notice. Do I overstate? Perhaps, but we know that the intellectual dishonesty and hypocrisy concerning tort reform goes to the very top of Texas State politics.
